Roundel windows are created using a variety of round objects including jewels, found objects, manufactured roundels, and hand-blown roundels I've made in glassblowing using a variety of colors and techniques...each one unique.
SQUANTUM ROUNDEL WINDOW
30"x21" This window is installed in a house in Squantum MA. Along with the larger roundels I made, there are some German roundels and a few stemware bottoms.
MAYNARD ROUNDEL WINDOW
33"x21" This window is installed in Maynard MA. It was created using my custom roundels, German roundels and pressed glass jewels.
OCEAN ROUNDEL WINDOW
This "sea/ocean" themed window was created for a sidelight to the front door of a house situated on the ocean in Rockport MA.
GOLD ROUNDEL WINDOW
The larger roundels in this window are custom made by me and have highly prismatic patterns. The rest of the roundels and jewels are imported from Germany.
AMBER and RUBY ROUNDEL WINDOW
I created all of these roundels to work together with a color range of clear, light amber, medium amber, dark amber, aurora and ruby. The small round glass jewels are reclaimed from old windows and date to the late 1800's. The background glass is a teal blown glass from Germany.
CIRCULAR ROUNDEL WINDOW
I love the idea of using one large roundel as the central focus of a circular panel and complimenting it with perimeter glass and jewels.

I love the color "aurora". It is a real tweener color. I try to keep the complimentary glass around the roundel fairly simple so the viewer will mostly focus on the roundel.

I created a more organic quality in the lines in the perimeter of this panel using a format of jewel clusters around the roundel.

This is the center section of a 6 foot round window for Alfond Inn in Winter Park, FL. The window is a garden theme.

5 WESTERN AVE ROUNDEL WINDOW
Chicago public artist Lynn Basa and I in front of one of the 25 windows I created for 5 Western Ave Cambridge,MA. The building is the former police station that is now 3 public agencies. Lynn is the artist and we collaborated on the project. Thanks to Kate, Tommy, Jesse for all the help!!

A vague shell wave pattern in the roundel and the variety of jewel shapes and colors represent diatoms which are beautiful glass like microscopic sea creatures.
