This series of Fish Windows are centered around the use of reclaimed glass.
FOOD CHAIN
Food Chain captures the watery textures of hand-blown antique style glass. The four small fish are composed of dichroic glass and pressed glass objects cut from a candy dish. As the viewer moves, the fish change color and the background glass undulates like moving water.
AQUARIUM
Aquarium is composed of a combination of hand blown, machine rolled and dichroic glass with found glass objects. The Deco style of the window evolved during the harvesting of the found glass objects used for the fish from serving plates, vases and pressed glass bowls that were flattened in the kiln. The assembly of the window is in the traditional leaded manor and included custom constructed leads to accommodate non-traditional objects.
THE FISH
The Fish is inspired by and built around the eyepiece of the fish. The pressed glass ashtray was cut and polished to serve as a focal point of the window. The shell forms at the bottom were cut from a bowl, heated in the kiln and flattened. The body of the fish is dichroic glass that lends an irridized and color changing effect.
THE CARPENSIS
The Carpensis and the "coral reef" are composed of a variety of Depression glass plates. The eye of the Carp is a signal light lens. The rest of the window is composed of stained glass and fabricated in the traditional leaded manner.
THE RUBY FISH TET
The Ruby Fish Tet window is a combination of found object glass for the fish and coral reef and traditional stained glass. The found objects used are serving platters, flattened bowls, and snack plates. The "Tet" in the title refers to a tetradict color formulae, which utilizes four colors to compliment the central red fish.
VERY RED SNAPPER
Very Red Snapper was inspired by and is composed entirely of kitchen glassware. Wine glass and bottle bottoms, serving plates, food storage containers, percolator tops, glass bowls and a cookie jar were cannibalized for their unique patterns to enhance the design. The window is a fun twist of presenting a "food" window fabricated in food related glass objects.
