Einstein

Einstein is the most unusual window of the Housewares Graveyard series. The inspiration for the window came from the greenish-yellow, or Vaseline glass bordering the image. The Vaseline glass is from the Sandwich Glass Factory via the Connick Studio and is pigmented with uranium. The amounts of uranium are so small as to not be harmful but the glass does glow under a U.V. lamp. The multicolored jewels in "space" were created by hand at the Avon Place Glass Studio in Cambridge, MA. The hand faceted jewels are antique, dating to the late 1800's. The planets are antique marbles of unknown date and origin. Einstein's image was created from an image scanned into the computer, screened onto glass and then manipulated by hand. The image is fired in the kiln and is permanent. The window is set in a poplar frame with a green and black brushed finish.

This window is no longer available. Please e-mail us if you would like to commission a window inspired by this design.
